Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre (The NCS) is proud to announce the findings of its recent Ofsted inspection – one of the first to take place under the new report card system in November 2025. The new-look card confirms that The NCS continues to provide an outstanding A Level experience that raises the aspirations and life outcomes for students. The report states that students continue to gain ‘exceptional’ achievements and inclusion, the outcome of a ‘strong standard’ in teaching, development, and leadership.
Exceptional Student Achievement
The inspection highlights a sixth form where “students achieve exceptionally well” with progress and attainment for disadvantaged pupils remaining consistently above the national average. Inspectors praised the school’s “clear and ambitious vision for the curriculums” and the “expert subject knowledge” of teachers who ensure “students gain a deep and broad knowledge of their subjects and the sectors they wish to join” as they build their knowledge and skills.
An Inclusive Sixth Form
The report places a significant emphasis on the academy’s inclusive ethos and ambition to “maintain a strong focus on removing barriers to learning for all students”. Inspectors noted that pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) successfully access the curriculum and achieve ambitious outcomes. Ofsted says, “Leaders prioritise students’ best interests in every decision. They allocate resources intelligently, adapt provision responsively and build partnerships that open access to high-quality opportunities.”
Our sixth form in East London was further commended for:
- High-quality teaching: “Teachers have expert subject knowledge and use highly effective strategies to promote learning … the quality of teaching is uniformly excellent.”
- Achievement: “A very high proportion secure A and A* grades in examinations. Students with special educational needs and/or disabilities achieve as highly as their peers.”
- Exceptional behaviour: “Students attend exceptionally well and behave impeccably in lessons and during breaks and transitions. They are consistently courteous, polite and respectful.”
- A focus on preparing students for their future: “Students are highly satisfied with the education that they receive … They are confident, well prepared for their next steps and proud to study at the school.”
- A culture of ambition: “Students value the strong culture of ambition. High expectations shape every aspect of school life. Students set bold goals and gain the confidence and skills to achieve them.”
