20 Jan 2015 Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre (The NCS) Students Attend Career Insight Day At Deloitte
NCS students recently attended an insight day and careers workshop at Deloitte. The team who hosted our students have sent us a write up on the event and our outstanding students.
On 22nd December a we hosted a group of students from Newham Collegiate Sixth Form at Deloitte. About 30 students attended, alongside Ms Malik and Mr Ismail, for a Career Insight Day to learn about who we are and what we do at Deloitte, specifically in our management consulting division.
We kicked off with some introductory talks around the different services that Deloitte offer. Straight away, we knew that we were not in the company of “ordinary” 16 year olds! The questions we received were extremely insightful and prompted some interesting discussions about the dilemmas that we face when giving professional advice to our clients.
We then moved on to a case study. The students, now broken up into four groups, were tasked with analysing some information and coming up with recommendations as to how Deloitte could help change, grow and improve an example business. Over 30 minutes we saw some great discussions and debates, with students using different frameworks to structure their answers. To finish off, each group gave a 5 minute presentation: once again, we were impressed by the confidence of the students’ public speaking and the originality of their ideas.
We really enjoyed having the students from Newham Collegiate Sixth Form join us for the day and hope that they came away with a better idea of what it is like to be a management consultant. We look forward to collaborating again with you all in the future!

The Student View
“We were deeply informed about the role of consulting within communities and the way at which Deloitte structure their workplace. We were also told about the many great courses for young people within Deloitte and the opportunities that these courses can offer us.” – Adesoji
